Obituary of Carolyn Dunn Vincent
Carolyn Dunn Vincent, formerly of Scotia NY, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023 at the age of 89 in Spring Township, Pennsylvania, at the home of her daughter with whom she had resided since 2019.
Carolyn was born on October 30, 1933 in Schenectady, NY, graduated from Scotia High School, Scotia NY in 1951, and attended Albany Business School. She was employed by the Schenectady County Department of Social Services from 1974 to 1997 advancing to Senior Support Investigator.
Carolyn spent most of her life in upstate NY. She adored the Adirondacks, living in Stratford for many years and was a member of the Stratford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bird-watching, watching the local wildlife, snowmobiling and was a former member of the Mohawk Valley Hiking Club. An avid vocalist, Carolyn was a member of various church choirs and choral societies, and was ready with a song through good times and bad. She was also fond of antiques and quilting for family and friends. She will be greatly missed for the love and encouragement she gave to family and friends.
Carolyn was predeceased by her partner, Chet Florence, her parents, Lewis and Alma Dunn, siblings Barbara Thomas, Lois Niemi, and Andrew Dunn, former husband James G. Vincent, Jr., her son, Gordon Vincent, and grandson Benjamin Neher. She is survived by her brother, William Dunn of Australia, sister-in-law Joanne Kaehlert of Florida, children; James G. Vincent III, Judith Neher (James), Norman Vincent, Suanne Gogis (Mike), Chet’s children, Nancy Hanley, Peggy Florence, Chet Florence and Charles Florence. Grandchildren; Adam Vincent (Heather), Jeffrey Neher (Amy), Daniel Neher, Timothy Neher (Felicity), Elizabeth Secor, great-grandchildren Liam and Anabelle Vincent, Sophie and Harper Neher, Dylan and Bradley Secor, Chet’s grandchildren; Robert Kraemer, John Florence, Robert Cope, Theresa Bobrow and Charles Florence Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Woestina Reformed Church, 1397 Main St., Rotterdam Junction, NY. Friends and family are invited, and may call from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Church. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Scotia, where she will be laid to rest with Chet. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, Amsterdam.
