Obituary of Helen Lois Persons

Helen Lois Persons, 90, of Amsterdam, NY joined her heavenly home on May 22nd, 2023, and was reunited with her husband, son, and parents. As Helen would say, she only moved to another neighborhood.

Born on November 19th, 1932, in Niskayuna, NY to the late Albert and Helen (Dopkowski) Weaver; she spent her childhood in Schenectady, NY and graduated with the 1950 class of Mount Pleasant High School. After graduating, she obtained her degree to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for Amsterdam Memorial for many years and became a private caregiver later in life.

Helen enjoyed going to garage sales and antique stores to find old treasures that could be refinished. She was passionate about her faith in Jesus, as she was a previous member of Ballston Center Church in Charlton, NY and a current member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam, NY. More than anything, she loved animals and owned many cats in her lifetime.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Charles Persons Jr; parents Albert and Helen Weaver; son Ricky Pearson; and many cats, including her beloved Providence.

She is survived by her children Scott (Connie) Pearson, Mary Beth Pearson, Rosemary (Kevin) McGuire, Charlene DiCaprio, and Michael Persons; brother David (Lynn) Weaver; granddaughter Justine Joy; nieces Lisa Corrine (Jay) Hermoso and Carrie Anne (Sean) Doherty; Godchildren Shelly, Kimmie, and Stacy; beloved cat Baby; and many cousins.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Julie and Anne from Community Hospice, Karen Sylvia, Lonna Bevins, and Charlene for the love and care they showed to Helen.
