Obituary of Clara Sammarco

Clara E. Sammarco, age 82, formerly of Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, March 20, 2018 at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, where she had resided for the past year. She was born February 19, 1936 in Gloversville, the daughter of John and Catherine McGivern Crispin. She was employed as a pharmacy technician by Rite Aid Pharmacy of Gloversville for many years and later as a secretary at Somerset Industries for several years. Clara was a member of the Johnstown Reformed Church and the Concordia Women's Auxiliary. She is survived by three children, David Gifford of Johnstown, Beth Leonard (Francis) of Gloversville and Christopher Gifford (Dawn) of Bristol, PA; two sisters, Joanne Fabozzi and Marjorie Gentile (Pat), both of Broadalbin; five grandchildren, Zachary Decker, Benjamin Decker, Padraic Decker, Rachel Sack and Ian Gifford; four great-grandchildren, Jaxon Decker, Harrison Decker, Milania Decker and Jacob Sack; as well as several nieces and nephews. Clara was predeceased by her parents; also by a brother, John Crispin; and her companion of many years, William Hesphelt. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Bryan Dykema officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
