Obituary of Roland A. Morrone

Mr. Roland A. Morrone, 97, of Grieme Avenue, Amsterdam died peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. A lifelong area resident, Roland was born on December 17, 1920 the son of the late Sisto and Angelina Barbato Morrone. He graduated from St. Mary's Institute in 1938. He served in the United States Army as a medic beginning in 1942 in North Africa and Italy; as he always proudly stated, "A full year before the D-Day Invasion." He was honorably discharged in 1945. Roland was employed by Mohasco and later Greno Industries until his retirement. On May 28, 1950 he was united in marriage to Esther Mancini Morrone. Together for 68 years they built a wonderful life together dedicated to God and their family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Esther; four children, S. John Morrone, Lorraine Suliveres, Christine Morrone (Jerry Bepko) and William Morrone and his wife Pamela; six grandchildren, Jade Suliveres, Caroline Adolfsson, Philip Morrone and his wife Samantha, Peter Morrone, Adan Morrone and Tyler Morrone; two great grandchildren, Audrina and Amari; and a niece, Lisa Morrone- Van Dusen. He was predeceased by his siblings, Brother Sixtus Morrone, OFM, Robert Morrone and John Morrone. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 9:15a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam. Burial will take place at a later date in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2 until 5p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
