Obituary of Dominick J. Bottisti

Mr. Dominick J. Bottisti, 93, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Albany Medical Center with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 2, 1924 in Amsterdam, New York the son of the late Dominick and Anna Viscusi Bottisti. He was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Dominick was a US Army Veteran serving during World War II in the 34th Infantry Division. He served as Staff Sergeant and while overseas took part in both the North Apennines and Po Valley Military Campaigns in Italy. Mr. Bottisti was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life and was co-owner of B and Z Contracting. He was also employed by James DiCaterino and Otto Greco, both of Amsterdam. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam. Dominick enjoyed the outdoors and most of all, spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He married Kathleen Minisci Bottisti on August 17, 1947. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. In addition to his wife he is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Ginny) Bottisti of Amsterdam and John (Mary Elizabeth) Bottisti of Amsterdam. He had five cherished grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) Rodecker, Kristy (Dwayne) Bottisti, Katie (Tyrone) Bottisti, Maria (Andrew) Pruckno, Ann (Kevin Wilary) Bottisti and seven great-grandchildren, Jakob, Jillian, Nick, Tyler, Joclyn, Jayla and Amaya. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. His siblings, Nick, Albert, and Herman Bottisti and Eleanor Pallotta and a great-grandson Teagan predeceased him. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 8, 2018 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St. Amsterdam with Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti as celebrant. Inurnment with Military Honors will be held on Friday March 16, 2018 at 2:30PM at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO BOX 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Ronald McDonald House,139 S.Lake Ave, Albany, NY. 12208.
