Obituary of Carmin J. Quill

Mr. Carmin J. Quill, 90, of Church Street, Hagaman passed away Monday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born on September 22, 1915 in Fonda, he was the son of the late Peter and Antonia Bachecalli Quill. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Mr. Quill worked as a welder for the American Locomotive Company for 29 years. He was also employed at General Electric and other local companies. Mr. Quill for a time was enlisted in the Untied States Navy as a sea bee. In his younger years he was an avid basketball and baseball player. Mr. Quill was a member of the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department and served as a trustee for the Village of Hagaman. He was also a communicant of St. Stephen?s R.C. Church. He enjoyed working on the house, but most of all loved his family and enjoyed being around them. On December 25, 1936 he was united in marriage to the former Mildred Allen. On Christmas Day 2005 they celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary, sadly that union ended January 8th of this year. Mr. Quill was also predeceased by two sisters, Rose and Theresa, and three brothers, Frank, Michael, and Kenneth. His loving family includes one son, Wayne Quill of Schenectady; his granddaughter, Nicole Weinstein and her husband Paul of Ballston Spa; grandson, Benjamin Quill of Schenectady; two great grandchildren, Delia and Samuel Weinstein of Ballston Spa and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A service will take place Wednesday evening at 7:00pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Ronald Matulewicz officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5pm until the time of the service. Interment will take place Thursday morning at the convenience of the family in Hagaman Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny?s Corner Road, Amsterdam or to St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
