Obituary of Elizabeth J. Chapman

Elizabeth J. ?Betty? Chapman, 76, of Honeyhill Rd., Ft. Plain, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Gloversville, New York on November 23, 1929 she was a daughter of Raymond and Marion Tuttle Waffle. She attended Gloversville High School. She moved to Ft. Plain in 1954. Betty was employed at the former Louis Meyers Glove Company in Gloversville, NY. She also worked from her home as a glove maker for many years. She was a member of the Freys Bush United Methodist Church. She married Douglas H. Chapman on October 30, 1948. They enjoyed 56 cherished years of marriage. In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Sandra Falk and her husband George of Ft. Plain, New York, Nancy Hyde and her husband Frank of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Cathy Shults and her husband Dale of Canajoharie, New York; one sister, Shirley Handy of Gloversville, New York; seven grandchildren, Susan Pellegrini, Julie Scorzelli, Melissa Benoit, Bryan Shults, Holley Bedell, Janine McKenna and Benjamin Chiappa and six great-grandchildren, Carolyn, Christopher and Samantha Pellegrini, Tyler Scorzelli, Logan Benoit and Madelyn Shults. Mrs. Chapman was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Waffle, and a sister, Mary ?Midge? Jordan. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 1:00PM at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, New York with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman presiding. Interment will be in the spring in Freys Bush Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, prior to the funeral service.
