Obituary of Alice P. Koehler

Alice P. Koehler, 89, of Henrietta Blvd., passed away Saturday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on April 15, 1916, the daughter of Fred C. and Elizabeth Costello Voigt, she graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1934. Alice worked at the former Mohawk Carpet Mills Shipping Office, and later at Holzheimer & Shaul Department Store where she retired in 1978. On January 17, 1942, she married the love of her life, Joseph A. Koehler, who predeceased her on Feb. 11, 1994. Alice left a legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends. On May 20, 2005, she also lost her son, William J. Koehler. She is survived by her son, Paul F. Koehler and his wife Ellen of Malone, New York; two daughters, Kathleen A. Tambasco and her husband Ralph of Perth and Mary Alice M. Davis of Ballston Spa; her sisters, Minna V. Brundige and Frances V. Zabava of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her late son?s dear friend, Lois Beebe of Amsterdam. Mrs. Koehler enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the AARP and the New York State Covered Bridge Society, a communicant of the former St. Joseph?s Parish and St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 am at St. Mary?s Church. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment will take place later in the spring in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. In lieu of flowers, it is the request of the family that contributions be made in her name to St. Jude?s Children?s Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home office.
