Obituary of Doris L. Miller

Doris L. Miller, of Mergner Road, Ft. Johnson, passed away Saturday evening at the Wilkinson Center, peacefully with her family at her side after a long illness. She was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Gloversville, the daughter of Alden and Levanche Wickham. On May 29, 1937 she was married to the love of her life, Jay Miller, who died on July 28, 1990. Doris was a lifelong area resident. She and Jay once worked for the Ostwick Corporation, her father?s business in Amsterdam. They later became principals at R.H. Crown Co. in Johnstown. Mrs. Miller retired as Office Manager and Treasurer in 1986 to care for her loving husband for the remainder of his life. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Walter in 1987. Survivors include her son, Alden Miller and his wife Mary of Ft. Johnson, New York; her daughter, Merrilee Drzewicki and her husband Ron of Johnstown, New York; grandsons, Duane Miller and his wife Debbie, Ronald Miller and his wife Kristen, Stephen Oare, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, all of Broadalbin, New York and Andrew Miller and his wife Tracey of Amsterdam; her granddaughter, Melissa Baker and her husband Marc, Sr. of Johnstown; her niece Lynn Naioti and her husband John of Glenville, New York and a brother, James Wickham, of Amsterdam. Doris was proud to boast of her great grandchildren, Aly, Matthew, Gracie, and Joshua Miller, Billy Purtell, Jay and Nick Oare, Emmalee, Ashlee and Marc Baker, Jr. Doris will long be remembered for the love she shared with her family and the spirit she shared with others. Funeral services will take place Thursday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. John Califano, officiating. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. It is the request of the family that contributions be made to the Ft. Johnson Fire Company, P.O. Box 2, Ft. Johnson NY 12070. Doris? family is deeply grateful to the caring staff of the first and second floors of the Wilkinson Center, for all they?ve done for her and the family.
