Obituary of B. Joan Brown

B. Joan Brown, 72, of Pattersonville Road, died Saturday at her home. Born in Schenectady, New York on February 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Garrett and Sadie VanEpps Becker. She was a life long area resident and was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Joan was employed as a Nurses Aide for the old Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and later for the Montgomery County Infirmary, retiring in 1994. She was a devoted member of the Woestina Reformed Church in Rotterdam Junction. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was very close to her friends. Joan also liked to travel. Survivors include her two sons, Brian D. Brown and his wife Patricia of Waterveliet, New York and Gary W. Brown and his companion Catie of Scotia, New York; a sister, Laura Klug of the town of Amsterdam; six grandchildren, Shanna, Sara, Morgan, Jaime, Brittany and James; four great grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew and several cousins also survive. Joan was predeceased by a son, Rick Brown, who died in 2001. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Woestina Reformed Church, Rotterdam Junction, New York with the Rev. Kent McHeard officiating. Cremation will take place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York.
