Obituary of James R. Booth

James R. Booth III, of Shasta Daisy Lane, died Thursday afternoon at St. Mary?s Hospital after a long illness. Born in Gloversville, New York, on May 23, 1938, he was the son of the late James R. and Irma Kingsboro Booth II. He was a life long area resident and attended Johnstown schools. Jim was employed for 25 years as a store clerk for the Beech-Nut Nutrition Company in Canajoharie, New York, until he retired in 1987 due to ill health. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Fort Plain, New York, the Eagles of Canajoharie, former Treasurer and Secretary of the Canajoharie Bowling League, one time Treasurer of the former Crystal Lake Snowmobile Club and a member of the 25-year Club at Beech-Nut. On September 18, 1975, he married the former Elizabeth Betty Peets. Besides his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, James R. Booth IV of Canajoharie and Robert E. Booth of Fort Plain; a daughter, Debra Bartlett of Amsterdam; a brother, Merlin Booth of Tacoma, Washington; ten grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by a daughter Carol Booth. It was the request of Jim that there be no funeral service or calling hours. Cremation will take place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim?s memory to a charity of ones choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Fultonville.
