Obituary of Ralph W. Andrest

Mr. Ralph W. Andrest, age 94 of Gloversville died Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born November 1, 1911 in Mayfield, the son of Walter and Lizzie Tooker Andrest. Educated in Mayfield schools, he served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He was a glove cutter, employed by his brother at the former Elwood Andrest Glove Company of Gloversville, as well as by several other glove making businesses. He also was a short order cook in the area. Mr. Andrest was a member of V.F.W. Post #2077, Gloversville. He was married February 21, 1961 to Pearl H. Eschler who died February 18, 2001. Survivors include a sister, Irene Korkosz of Gloversville; a half-sister, Beverly Morey of Gloversville; a step-sister, Sylvia Gale of Amsterdam; a step-brother, Howard Hinds of Mayfield, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers, sisters, and step-brothers and step-sisters. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday with the Rev. William Zimmerman officiating. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice
