Obituary of Madelyn M. Folensbee

Madelyn M. Folensbee, 88, of Chestnut Street, passed away Saturday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on January 12, 1917, the daughter of Robert and Sarah Hoctor Hoffman, she was a 1936 graduate of St. Mary?s Institute. A lifelong resident, she was employed as an executive secretary for the American Red Cross and also was an insurance clerk for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Company. Madelyn was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 32. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Mary?s Church. On June 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to Harold J. Folensbee. A homemaker, Madelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her children, Judith and her husband Joseph Catucci of Poughkeepsie and Richard and his wife Diane Folensbee of Amsterdam; her only sister, Gertrude Hoffman of Amsterdam; loving grandchildren: Michael, Brian and Kristin Catucci and Shaun, Jennifer and Sarah Folensbee. Services are Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary?s Church. Interment is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. A calling period will begin at 9:00 am Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Institute, Upper Church Street, Amsterdam, NY, Madelyn?s beloved Alma Mater.
