Obituary of Dolores Retersdorf

Mrs. Dolores ?Dodie? Hoyt Retersdorf, age 58, of Gloversville, NY, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday evening, September 6, 2005, with the support of her family and hospice. She was born September 3, 1947 in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of the late Clifford and Marion Vignuli Hoyt. She sattended St. Joseph?s Hill Academy on Staten Island, as well as St. Peter?s High School. She moved to Gloversville and was a 1965 graduate of Bishop Burke High School. She later took courses in food service and hotel management at the Pratt Institute as well as several classes at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Dodie was first employed by the former New York Telephone Company as a business representative. She later worked at the business office of Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, and also as an aide for the Gloversville Enlarged School District. Dodie?s care and concern was very evident in her recent work with the T.B.I. Traumatic Brain Injured at the Lexington Center, a position that she held very dear to her heart. Mrs. Retersdorf was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. She was a former Brownie Leader and a former officer of the Johnstown Women of the Moose. Survivors include her husband, J. Scott Retersdorf of Gloversville; five children, Robyn M. Morrell Martin of Newark, DE; Debbie L. Smigen Mike of Mayfield, Jaime D. Retersdorf of Pittsburg, PA; Alan F. Retersdorf who attends Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Brian C. Retersdorf who attends the College of St. Rose; a brother, Clifford B. Hoyt II of Staten Island, NY; four grandchildren, Kayla Morrell, Samantha Morrell, Alyssa Wells and Michael Smigen II; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dodie was preceded in death by her son Scott J. Retersdorf in 2000. Her mother, Marion ?Happy Days? Hoyt died June 13, 2005. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 9:15 AM Saturday, followed at 10:00 AM by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Scott J.
