Obituary of Richard E. Lewis

Richard E. Lewis, 67, formerly of Charles Street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday afternoon at the Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam where he has resided since March of this year. Born December 2, 1937, in the Town of New Marlborough, Connecticut, he was the son of late Mildred Irene and Elton Robert Lewis. He attended schools in Connecticut. Robert lived in Fort Plain, N.Y. for a number of years before moving to Amsterdam in 1985. He was self employed as a farmer in Fort Plain and later was employed as a supervisor for Adirondack Knitting Company in Amsterdam retiring many years ago. Survivors include; a companion, Lita Young of Amsterdam; three sons, Mark Lewis of Amsterdam, Scott Lewis of Gloversville and Mike Lewis of Virginia; a daughter, Pat Lewis of Virginia; a step- daughter, Kathy Young of Amsterdam; a sister Ann Louise Myers of Winsted, Conn.; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by a brother Wayne Lewis. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Matthew Splittgerber officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends in Friday from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
