Obituary of M. Lucille Brown

Mrs. M. Lucille Brown, 81, of Northampton Road, died Saturday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam after a long illness. She was born July 31, 1923 in South Glens Falls, New York. Lucille was a graduate of a Boarding School in Canada. She was employed by former Holzheimer & Shaul and later was assistant manager of Wagenheim?s Women?s Store in Amsterdam. She also worked for a short time at the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. Lucille was a volunteer for the Amsterdam Red Cross for many years and served as the County Blood Bank Chairman for three years. She was also a volunteer for G.A.V.A.C. and was their delegate at the Volunteer Ambulance State Conventions. Lucille loved being a homemaker and enjoyed her home. She was of the Protestant Faith. She was first married for 25 years to Howard J. Van Arnum who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Amy Van Arnum. On July 29, 1972 she married William L. Brown, Jr.. Besides her dear husband, survivors include; two sons, John W. Van Arnum of Tampa, Florida and Howard Skip C. Van Arnum of Middletown, Maryland; a daughter, Alice K. Hartmann of Owego, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Mark, Jennifer, Ellen, Kelly, Dawn, Sandy and Katherine; four great grandchildren, Corey, Jordan, Jamie and Ally; a niece, Alice and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5 to7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Lucille?s memory to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny?s Corners Road, Amsterdam, N.Y. or to the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, 4988 Route 30, Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010.
