Obituary of Marcene Forbes

Marcene J. Forbes, 52, of State Highway 30, Town of Florida, died Monday at St. Mary?s Hospital after a long illness, with her devoted family at her side. Born October 21, 1952, in Endicott, New York, she was the daughter of George and Phyllis Dinola Lurenz. She graduated in 1970 from Yorktown Heights High School in New York and she received an Associate?s Degree in Business from Cobleskill College. Marcene was first employed as a secretary at General Electric Company in Schenectady for twenty-one years and later she was self-employed in merchandising for various companies. She loved to travel, lay in the sun and enjoyed her family. She loved her special car ?71? Chevy Z28 called ?Earl?. Marcene was an avid bowler and she was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. On September 25, 1982, she married Jeffrey C. Forbes. Besides her dear husband, she is survived by her loving family; a son, Erik J. Forbes of Amsterdam; a daughter, Jessica L. Forbes of Amsterdam; her parents, George and Phyllis Lurenz of Hagaman; a sister, Maria Twyman of Wanakena, NY; her grandmother, Mary Dinola of Endwell, NY; a godmother, Jane Putrino of Endwell; aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 8, 2005 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. A legacy Candle Ceremony will be held Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marcene?s memory to the G.A.V.A.C., 11 Park Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
