Obituary of Margaret Rogers

Margaret Marge Rogers, 83, of Haskell St, Hagaman, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 5, 1922 a daughter of James and Margaret Wier Rogers, Sr., she was a life-long Amsterdam area resident and attended local elementary schools. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1940 and later the Amsterdam School of Commerce in 1941. Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amsterdam since 1934. She was a former Sunday school teacher and a former Treasurer of the church for 15 years. She is also a member of the First Baptist Women?s Society. She was employed at Lewis Goldmeir Wholesale Co. from 1941 to1951. She retired from General Electric Co. as secretary to the General Manager of the foundry department in 1986 after 35 years of service. She was a former member of the G.E. Women?s Club and a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. She had a very close and loving relationship with her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Auspelmyer, Yolanda Rogers and Marie Carey. Survivors include one sister, Evelyn W. Coppola of Amsterdam; one brother, John G. Rogers and wife Alice Rogers of Scotia, NY and nieces and nephews: Pamela and William Hyde of Galway, NY, Donna Daggett of Charlotte, NC, James Rogers of Philmont, NY, Curtis Rogers of Rensselaer, NY, Diane and George Maslak of Marietta, GA, Linda and Charles Cramer of Greenville, SC, Thomas and Elizabeth Rogers of Amsterdam, Darlene Rogers of Amsterdam, Craig Rogers of Amsterdam, Sheila and Mark Rogers of Burnt Hills, NY, Gerald Rogers of Scotia, NY, and Michael and Vicki Carey of Virginia Beach, VA. Several grandnieces and grandnephews and great grand nieces and nephews also survive. She was pre-deceased by brothers James, Lewis and Elmer Rogers and sisters Elizabeth Allen and Helen Rogers. A celebration of her life will take place Friday morning at 9:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 479 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Thomas Mithen officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call this evening from 5-8 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in Hagaman Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 479 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
