Obituary of Rose D. Sperduto

Rose D. Sperduto, 79, formerly of Charles Street, died peacefully Friday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born August 2, 1925, in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of Frank and Bella Graziana Raco. She was a life long resident and attended local schools. Rose was employed as a glove maker and a seamstress for the Amsterdam Glove Company in Amsterdam for 30 years and also worked for the former Card-Craft in Amsterdam. She was a communicant of the former St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and is a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Mrs. Sperduto was an avid bowler and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City; she also loved to bake for her family. On June 2, 1946, Rose was married to her beloved Thomas J. Sperduto, who died August 26, 2004. Survivors include her loving family: two sons, Thomas F. Sperduto and John A. Sperduto of Amsterdam; four brothers, Dominick Raco of Amsterdam, Patsy Raco of Florida, Frank Raco of Florida and Anthony Raco of Florida; one sister, Rita Dee Dee Raco of Fort Johnson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street Amsterdam. Burial will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be held at 7:45PM on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Rose?s memory to the E.L. Wilkinson Res. Health Care Facility, State Hwy 30 North Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Alzheimer?s Association, 85 Watervliet Ave, Albany, NY 12206.
