Obituary of Ellen L. Wilson

Mrs.Ellen L Wilson 58, of Mayfield, died Friday, June 17 at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Wilson was born January 3, 1947 in Herkimer, the daughter of William and Margaret Piper Carbano. She was educated in the Gloversville public schools and the former Bishop Burke High School. Mrs. Wilson worked as a Home Health Aide for Community Health Center in Johnstown for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillaries of both the Gloversville VFW and the Gloversville Moose Lodge, and enjoyed bingo. She will be remembered as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was devoted to her family. Mrs. Wilson is predeceased by two husbands, Jack Holmes, whom she married May 22, 1966, and who died in 1969, and Richard Wilson, whom she married January 23, 1982 and who died in 1995. She was also predeceased by her son Mark Wilson and grandson Jacob Baker. Mrs. Wilson is survived by six daughters, Teresa and her husband Jack Filkins of Johnstown, Valerie and her husband Allen Wade, Jackie and her husband Keith Holmes, Tonya and her husband Bill Walendziak, and Jay Wilson all of Gloversville, and DeAnna and her husband Ronnie McEntyre of Mayfield. Also surviving are her brother Dale and his wife Kay Piper of Wayland, her step-mother Philomena Carbano, and 13 grandchildren: Kristian Telfer-Lynch, Angela Rector, Jennifer Boyer, Amber Curry, Caitlynn Hamm, Dakota Baker, Brittaney Baker, Hunter Baker, Madyson Baker, Garrett Buseck, Samantha Wade, Cheyanne Pilkenton, and Robert Filkins, and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson also leaves behind her special cousin Lois, and special friends Mr. and Mrs. William LaPort, Mr. and Mrs. Larry TenEyck, Shirley Ostrander, and Almeta Reed. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Urn burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Capitol District Cancer Resource Foundation, 1003 Loudon Road P.O.
