Obituary of Michael Tropia

Mr. Michael A. Tropia, 87, of Caroga Lake, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. He was born July 26, 1917 in Carbondale, PA, the son of the late Anthony and Anna Megna Tropia.He was educated in the Carbondale schools and had been an area resident for many years. Mr. Tropia was employed for 45 years by the former A& P Markets in both Gloversville and Amsterdam, in the produce department. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres. Mr. Tropia was pre-deceased by his wife, Eva Acker Tropia, whom he married February 14, 1953.Survivors include two step-daughters; Rosemary Hayner of Caroga Lake and Susan Brooker of Enfield, CT; and two stepsons, Douglas K. Hyde of Bleeker and Robert E. Hyde. Also surviving are 15 step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Rose, Theresa, Mary and Josephine, and brothers John and Louis Tropia.There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
