Obituary of Michael S. Gay

Mr. Michael S. Gay, age 42, died suddenly on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at his home in Gloversville, NY. He was born June 5, 1962 in Gloversville, the son of Norma Raymond Gay and the late Herbert Gay. A 1980 graduate of Northville High School, Michael had worked at Flex Communications, also at Genes Floor Service, and for the Florida Police Benevolent Association. He was known in the Fulton County area for his talents at singing karaoke. As caregiver for his parents, he wintered with them in Palmetto, Florida for many years. Michael was a member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge #1185 and its shuffleboard league. He is survived by his mother, Norma J. Jones of Gloversville; two brothers, Lawrence B. Gay Susan of Edmeston, NY and Thomas H. Gay of Anchorage, AK; two sisters, Sandra L. Gay Hackbirth of Kempner, TX and Merry L. Gay Moyer Leland of Johnstown, NY; two step brothers, James L. Jones of Troy, NY and John C. Jones of New Boston, NH; two step sisters, Joan V. Jones Delehanty of Colonie, NY and Jean I. Jones Allen of E. Greenbush, NY; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. Michael was predeceased by his stepfather Chester W. Jones, his niece Beth M. Gay, nephew Jesse J. Nabinger and grandniece Jessica H. Hoff. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday with the Rev. Winston Hallett officiating. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N.
