Obituary of Richard C. Dutcher

Mr. Richard C. Dutcher, age 55, of Johnstown, died suddenly Saturday May 7, 2005. He was born May 28, 1949 in Gloversville, the son of Betty Nellis Dutcher and the late Carleton Dutcher Jr. Richard was educated in Gloversville schools and was a 1968 graduate of Gloversville High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam from October 1969 to October 1970, receiving the Purple Heart. When discharged from the Army he returned to Gloversville and began his career with Nathan Littuaer Hospital. He had been a mechanic in the engineering department at the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a former member of the Sir William Johnson Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge. Survivors include his two children, David R. Dutcher and Lisa Palumbo and her husband Michael, all of Johnstown; three brothers, Carleton Dutcher III of Mayfield, Alan Dutcher and Michael Dutcher of Gloversville; a grandson, Sean Palumbo; and his mother, Betty Ann Dutcher of Gloversville. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Ann Dutcher. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the Kobuskie - Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
