Obituary of Henry C. Brownell

Henry C. ?Hank? Brownell, age 80, of Gloversville, died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a long illness. He was born September 11, 1924 in Perth, NY, the son of Daniel C. and Minnie Arnold Brownell. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. Mr. Brownell had been employed by General Electric Company, Johnstown Tanning Corp; Treher & Jung, Inc; and lastly by J. B. F. Industries until his retirement. Hank was active in bowling leagues in the past at the Johnstown Bowling Center, and many years ago was an assistant coach in little league baseball. He had a very special interest in woodworking. To all who knew Hank, he was ?a real good guy?. He was married on September 3, 1945 in London, England to Alice ?Elsie? Scadding Brownell who survives. He is also survived by his children, David C. Brownell of Virginia and Kay Cairns of Saratoga; his twin sister Margaret Donati of Schenectady and sister Jane Brownell of Gloversville; grandchildren Aaron C. Brownell, Jack Henry Cairns and Catherine Cairns; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Raymond, Isaac, Woodrow, Richard, Arnold and Donald Brownell; and his sister Katherine Hemstreet. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Sr. officiating. Interment with urn burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
