Obituary of Genevieve V. Felczak

Genevieve V. Felczak, 94, formerly of Cranes Hollow Road, and more recently of the Hillcrest Springs Adult Home, passed away Sunday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. Born in Amsterdam where she lived her entire life, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lottie Blonkowski Nejfak. Educated locally, she was first employed as a secretary for Breiers of Amsterdam and later owned and operated the former Welcome Luncheonette on East Main Street in the city. Genevieve was later employed by the Montgomery County Office for the Aging, during which time she was honored for her senior services. She retired from the Amsterdam Free Library. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus? Roman Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husbands, William Zakowski in 1940, Matthew Decowski in 1964, and Isadore Felczak in 1978. Her loving family includes her children: John and his wife Karen Zakowski of Wallingford, Ct., Edward and his wife Patricia Zakowski of Bolton, Ct., Winifred Zakowski of Schenectady and Barbara and her husband George Small of Mayfield; ten grandchildren: Robin Terry Quintin, Jeffrey Mary Capullo, Zale Kenneth Benton, Tracy Capullo, John Zakowski Jr., Joseph Cynthia Zakowski, Valerie James Gabriel, Brent Beth Zakowski, Lisa Piseczny, and George Small Jr.; twelve Great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Jane Decowski of Amsterdam, as well as cousins. Services are Wednesday at 9:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Stanislaus? Church, Cornell St. Fr. David Mickiewicz, officiating. Interment is in St. Stanislaus? Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
