Obituary of Edward B. Kupciunas

Mr. Edward B. Kupciunas, 87 years old of Kupciunas Drive, Tribes Hill, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville. Mr. Kupciunas was born March 13, 1918 in Amsterdam, the son of Anthony and Sadie Kupciunas and was a life long resident of the Amsterdam area. He attended Amsterdam schools. Mr. Kupciunas served with the U.S. Army during World War 2 with the 2nd Infantry Division in the Ardennes, Normandy, Central Europe, Rhineland and Northern France. He participated in the landing at Omaha Beach and was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Kupciunas had been employed by the former Mohawk Carpet Mills before and after World War 2 accumulating 25 years of employment. He then went to work for the N.Y.S. Canal System as a Maintenance Engineer for 18 years retiring in 1980. Mr. Kupciunas was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of the American Lithuanian Club in Amsterdam. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. On September 4, 1954 he married the former Mary P. Kalinauskas who survives. Also surviving are his stepson Ralph Fisher of Dallas, Georgia, 5stepgrandchildren and 5 great step grandchildren. Mr. Kupciunas has requested that a private Legacy Candle Ceremony be conducted at the convenience of the family at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will be later in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. There will be no calling hours.
