Miss Marion F. Agne, age 94, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown. She was born June 3, 1910 in Utica, NY, the daughter of William and Margaret Weir Agne.
She was educated at Utica Free Academy, Oswego State Teachers College, and received her bachelor?s degree from Columbia University. A resident of Gloversville since 1931, she was employed as a second grade school teacher at the former McKinley School in Gloversville for 42 years until her retirement in 1972.
Miss Agne was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, the Gloversville Teachers Assoc; the NYS United Teachers Assoc; the National Educators Assoc; the Fulton County Retired Teachers Assoc; the NYS Retired Teachers Assoc; and the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Carando of Annapolis, MD; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and her longtime special friends Joan and Vince Cangiano of Johnstown. She was preceded in death by four siblings, J. Paul Agne, Sherrin Agne, Ralph Agne and Katherine W. Agne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Wells Nursing Home Inc., 201 W. Madison Ave., Johnstown, NY 12095, or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Kobuskie - Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
