Obituary of Rose Gatto Marcellino

Mrs. Rose Gatto Marcellino, 92, of Melbourne Beach, FL formerly of Amsterdam, N.Y. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 15, 2005. While living in Amsterdam she was owner and operator of Rose?s Beauty Shop on Guy Park Ave. and was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Marcellino was the former proprietor of Rose?s Beauty Salon and Dress Shop in Boynton Beach, FL and at age 65, she fulfilled her dream of becoming an artist who enjoyed oil painting. Along with her artistic talent, her smile and love will always be her legacy. Rose is survived by her two daughters, Rosemary Marcellino Hughes and her husband Robert of Melbourn, FL, and Virginia Marcellino Hogan and her husband Raymond of New Orleans, Louisiana; five grandchildren, John Hughes, Robert Hughes Jr., Chris Hughes, Heather Hogan Karlin and Melanie Hogan; three great grandchildren, Joseph Lips, Damien Karlin, and Isabella Rose Hughes; one sister, Sue Gatto Pflepsen and her husband Waldama; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marcellino is preceded in death by her husband John Marcellino, her father, Pasquale Gatto native of Naples, Italy who was a famous local artist who painted the beautiful ceiling murals in St. Casimir?s Church in Amsterdam, her mother, Sofia Anastasia Gatto native of Pisciotta, Italy; three sister?s, Amelia Gatto Taranto, Christine Gatto Marcellino, Mary Gatto Marcellino, and two brothers, Salvatore Gatto and Nicholas Gatto. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Florida. Rite of Committal will be held on Monday, February 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary?s Cemetery Chapel, Ft. Johnson, NY.
