Obituary of Fred C. Hick

Fred C. Hick, 59, of Seeley Road, died Saturday morning at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. Born February 26, 1945, in Youngsville, New York, he was the son of Leo and Theresa Urachler Hick. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He was self employed as a carpenter for a number of years. Fred loved his kids and grandchildren and they took top priority in his life. He was a member of the Mohawk Valley Post 3275 V.F.W. and a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church of Fort Plain. On February 14, 1982, Valentines Day, he married the former Donna Fralick. Besides his wife, he is survived by; two sons, Brian Hick of Waterford, Michigan, Steven Hick of Gloversville; a step- son, George Mabie III of Fort Plain; a step- daughter, Holly Mabie of Palatine Bridge; two brothers, Bill Dusold and Leo Hick of Fort Plain; two sisters, Anna Spencer of Cherry Valley and Helen Van DerVer of Jeffersonville, NY; seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Fred was predeceased by two sons, Edward and Bruce Hick. Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie followed by a Funeral Mass to be held at 12 noon at the St. James Church, 113 Reid Street, Fort Plain, N.Y. with the Rev. Kenneth Swain as celebrant. Burial will take place in spring at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
