Obituary of Gilbert F. DeGraff

Gilbert F. De Graff, 91, of State Highway 67 East, died Saturday evening at the Samuel S. Stratton V A Hospital in Albany, NY. Born April 28, 1913, in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of Arthur and Hilda De Graff. He attended local schools and was a life long area resident. Mr. De Graff was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and was in the battle of Siepan. He was a member of the Carpenter?s Union 7 in Amsterdam and was employed as a carpenter and carpet mechanic for Carpetland in Amsterdam for a number of years until retiring in 1974. He was of the Presbyterian Faith. Mr. De Graff loved to go to the Saratoga Track and watch the horses, he also enjoyed working in his garden. Survivors include; a son, Gilbert B. De Graff of Amsterdam; a sister, Hilda Preston of Amsterdam; a niece and a nephew. A private memorial graveside service will be held in spring in the Green Hill Cemetery in Amsterdam. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one?s choice.
