Obituary of Gary A. Bedell

Gary A. Bedell, 70, of Woods Hollow Road, Gloversville, NY died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 12, 2018.

A lifelong area resident, Gary was born on August 23, 1947 the son of Helen Korzeniewski Bedell and the late Charles H. Bedell Jr.  He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1965.  Gary served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  For many years he was employed by General Electric in Schenectady until his retirement.

He is survived by his mother Helen; one daughter, Amy Hutzel and her husband Shannon of Glenville, NY; his grandchildren, Karly Tolson and her fiancé Tyler Zepf and Kaitlyn Phillips and her husband Josiah; his sister Sandra Smarup and her husband Dwight; a sister-in-law, Gerda Bedell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Charles in 2013 and his brother, Charles Henry Bedell III in 2017.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:15a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche M.S. as celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
