Obituary of Helen J. Dalmata

Helen J. Dalmata,  age 98, of Gloversville, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

She was born March 2, 1920 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna Opalka Selufsky. She was employed by Taylor Made Awnings for several years and later by St. Thomas Inc. for over 25 years.

Helen was a member of  the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Berkshire Fire Dept. Auxiliary for many years. She loved her family gatherings, decorating for the holidays, traveling, cooking, gardening, sewing, crocheting and her furry animals.

She is survived by three children, Edalenia Davenport (Arthur) of Venice, FL, Lawrence Dalmata of Burlington, NC and Raymond Dalmata (Barbara) of Gloversville; a brother, Ronald Selufsky Texas; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, John "Edward"  Dalmata; a daughter, Claudia Watson; and a brother Walter Selufsky.

A Prayer Service will be held 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 4 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czelusinak officiating.

Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave; Gloversville, NY 12078.
