Obituary of Ruth Jane Cripe

Mrs. Ruth J. Cripe, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2010 at the River Ridge Living Center. Born in the Town of Glen on February 26, 1916 she was the only daughter of the late Walter and Matilda Anderson. Ruth graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1933. A lifelong area resident, Ruth was employed for the former Norstar Bank in Amsterdam until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Fultonville United Methodist Church, the Port Jackson Seniors, the Iroquois Seniors and the Horace J. Inman Center. Ruth was also very active with the Order of the Eastern Star: Art- Well Otsquago Chapter 208 and the Order of the Amaranth: St. Monica Court #61. On November 25, 1937 she was united in marriage to Donald E. Cripe. That union lasted 49 years until his passing on October 8, 1986. She was also predeceased by her only son, Jeffrey Cripe; and her three brothers, Schuyler, Albert and Walter. Ruth had a zest for life. She was a very caring person; who had many passions in life including: traveling, gardening, decorating, and her specialties: flowers arranging and homemade pies. She always arrived with a pie in hand, a bouquet of fresh picked flowers and a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruth is survived by her loving friends Gary and Barbara; and nieces, nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women and the River Ridge Living Center for their love and compassionate care extended to Ruth and her family. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, July 23, 2010 from 12 noon until 2p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home; where a Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:30p.m.to celebrate Ruth?s life. Interment will follow in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. Contributions may be made in Ruth?s memory to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam or GAVAC in care of the funeral home office.
