Obituary of Ruth E. Simek

Mrs. Ruth E. Simek, age 89, of Gloversville, died Saturday morning, July 17, 2010 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility. She was born on June 5, 1921 in Chicopee, MA, the daughter of the late Graham Noble Davidson and Alice Harrison Davidson. She graduated from High School in Chicopee and later from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. She was married to Raymond H. Simek in 1943. Together they lived in Fultonville and Gloversville and were winter residents of Boca Raton, Florida for about ten years. Ruth worked for many years as Office Manager at Simek Manufacturing, Inc. of Johnstown, a family-owned business. Ruth enjoyed crafting and outdoor activities such as swimming and snowmobiling. She loved to travel with her late husband in their motor home. Her family was very important to her as she had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, who died March 6, 1991. Survivors include: two children, Judi Simek Gil Houk of Johnstown and Larry Simek of Broadalbin; a brother, Robert Davidson Priscilla of Washington, NC; three grandchildren, Adam Hoye-Simek, Mike Kujath and Michele Robillard; three great-grandchildren, Alicia Robillard, KeriAnne Robillard and Cassidy Kujath; two nephews and a niece. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 19 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
