Obituary of Beatrice L. Beyer Persons

Beatrice L. Beyer Persons, 89, of Pattersonville Road, passed away Monday morning at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born August 22, 1920 in the Town of Florida and she was the daughter of Walter and Mary Lena Brooks Beyer. She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Florida and attended local schools. For 66 years, she worked side by side with her husband Robert, often helping him bale hay and operating the family farm on Persons Road in the Town of Florida. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the Town of Florida Women's Auxiliary. Beatrice was an avid gardener and raised prizewinning rose bushes and African violets. She also had a vegetable garden and she enjoyed canning and pickling for her family. She was a great cook and her apple pie was to die for. She loved raising her five children and spending time with her family. On October 11, 1941, she married Robert Jonas Persons, who passed away January 26, 2007. Survivors include two sons Christopher R. Persons and his wife Tracy of the Town of Florida, and Thomas P. Persons of the Town of Florida; three daughters Patricia L. Little and her husband John of the Town of Florida, Joan A. Garreau-Kilinski and her husband Michael of the town of Florida and Janette S. Folckemer and her husband Harry of the Town of Duanesburg; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated July 15, 2010 at 11 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson. Calling hours and prayer service will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Beatrice's memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
