Obituary of Stephen Burimaukas

Mr. Stephen Burimaukas, 89, of Slater St. Amsterdam, passed away Sunday morning July 11, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 12, 1920 a son of Vincus and Katrina Chipluke Burimauskas. He attended Amsterdam schools and earned an Associates Degree from Alfred University and later earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Illinois State College. Mr. Burimaukas was employed for many years by the General electric Company in Pittsfield Mass and Holyoke Mass. He also worked at many U.S. Navy Submarine Bases and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Stephen is survived by one brother William Burimaukas of Amsterdam, NY. Two nieces, Catherine Stevens Roy of Saratoga, NY and Janet B. Smith of Pennfield, NY. A Grand Niece, Lindsay M. Stevens. Cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 14, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father Stanislaus Swierzowski presiding. Private interment of cremated will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday July 14, 2010 prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00A.M. at the funeral home.
