Obituary of Josephine Ripepi Megna

Mrs. Josephine Ripepi Megna, 78, of Grieme Ave, Amsterdam passed away Friday July 9, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with her loving family at her side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 26, 1932 a daughter of Guiseppe and Concetta Matarozzo Ripepi. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1949 graduate of Amsterdam High School. Mrs. Megna was employed for many years at the Amsterdam Printing Company and later Villa Italia Pasticceria in Schenectady, NY. Josephine dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and family. She along with her husband Sal enjoyed spending time with family who were the joys of her life. Her smile could light up the room along with her warmth and compassion to everyone. She was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam. Josephine married Salvatore Megna on October 25, 1954. In addition to her beloved husband of 56 years she is survived by one son, Dominick J. Megna Susan of Amsterdam. Two daughters, Gina Johnson Mark of Amsterdam and Lisa Vicinanzo Phillip of Amsterdam. Two brothers whom she adored, Ernest J. Ripepi Phyllis of Amsterdam and Francis A. Ripepi Sherry of Amsterdam. Ten beloved grandchildren, Salvatore Megna and his Fiancé Ashley Pasquarelli, Dr. Dominick Megna Jr., J. Marco Johnson, Gino Megna, Dino Johnson, Antonio Johnson, Cristiana Johnson, Anthony Vicinanzo, Adriana Vicinanzo and Alessandra Vicinanzo. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive here, in Florida and in Italy. Josephine was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Thomas D. Ripepi, Angelina Martuscello, Armand A. Ripepi and Rosie Natale. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 13, 2010 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St, Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker and Father Pascal Iannotti concelebrating. Entombment will take place at a later date in the family mausoleum at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday July 12, 2010 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church or St. Mary's Institute both c/o the funeral home.
