Obituary of Arthur R. Foggia

Mr. Arthur R. Foggia, 66 years old of Woodrow Road, died Saturday at St. Mary?s Hospital. He was born November 24, 1943 in Amsterdam, the son of Arthur and Dorothy Smith Foggia, and was a life long resident of the Amsterdam area. Mr. Foggia graduated from St. Mary?s Institute in 1961 and received an A.A. Degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College. He served his country with the U.S. Army being discharged in 1976. Mr. Foggia owned several Taverns including the Homestead in Amsterdam. He also was the manager of the Imperial Racing Center at OTB in Schenectady. Mr. Foggia was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was known as a master carpenter and a great cook. Arthur loved the time spent with family and close friends and loved his two dogs, Bree and Sammie. Mr. Foggia?s wife, the former Evelyn Centerbar, died in 2007. He is survived by his daughter Gina and her husband Shaun McNamara of Amsterdam, his two sons Anthony Foggia of Japan and Phillip Foggia of Amsterdam and his five grandchildren: Jessica and her husband Andy Zapp, Kristi Szasz and her fiancé Adam Cahill, Stephanie Szasz, Colin and Deidre McNamara. He is also survived by his special friends Ed Liberantowski and Ray German. Funeral services will be held 8:30am Tuesday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. followed at 9:15am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary?s Church with Fr. John Medwid officiating. Burial is in St. John?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday from 5 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
