Obituary of Henry I. Lowenski

Henry I. Lowenski, Sr., 88, of Pine View Commons, Johnstown, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. He was born in New Haven, CT on July 31, 1921and was the son of the late Walter and Julia Sincona Lowenski. Mr. Lowenski lived in Auriesville for 50 years until moving to Delmar for a short time and has been a resident of Pine View Commons for 6 years. He was a veteran of the US ARMY and served in Hawaii as an army swimming instructor for the underwater demolition teams and also served during the occupation of Japan. He received the American Service Medal, Asiatic and Pacific Service Medals and WW II Victory Medal. Henry was employed as a stater core operator in the turbine department of the General Electric Company in Schenectady for a number of years. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. On February 1, 1944, Henry married the former Irma Mae Van Arsdale who passed away September 2, 2004. He was also predeceased by two brothers Walter Lowensky and Charles Lowensky and two sisters Stella Nardini and Cecelia "Sis" Kusak. Survivors include two sons Henry I. Lowenski, Jr. and his wife Linda of Auriesville, NY and Dan L. Lowenski and his wife Catherine of Delmar, NY; a half-brother Victor Braskey of Fruitland, ID ; sister Dorothy Beeson of Fruitland, ID; a half-sister Wanda Beeson of Oregon; two grandchildren Michael Lowenski of Auiresville, NY and Paul Lowenski of Delmar, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 11, 2010 at 11 am at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. Interment will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville, with Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Thursday today from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
