Obituary of Fred E. Brundige

Fred E. Brundige, 77, of Gloversville, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010. He was born June 25, 1932 in Gloversville, the son of the late Eugene and Ruth Ortell Brundige, becoming one of eight children. Fred was a Korean War veteran who served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1950-1954. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Beverly A. Beaulieu on January 23, 1954. They spent forty two wonderful years together until her passing in 1996. He was employed at various local leather mills, including Mohasco Industries and Pan American Tanning from which he retired in October of 1994. Fred was an avid life long fan of the New York Giants. He never missed a game and family dinners were served at half time. In fact, he was known as "Mr. Giant" by many. Most of all, he was a true family man and loved spending time with them. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include two sons: Fred E. Brundige, Jr. Mary Lourdes of Erie, PA and Raymond J. Brundige Judi of Johnstown; a daughter, Lori Gallagher John of Mayfield; a "stepdaughter", Maryann Bradbury of Johnstown; three grandchildren: Shawna Gallagher of Mayfield and Michael and Joseph Brundige of Erie, PA; two great grandchildren: Logan Page and Breanna Lynne; a brother, Terry Brundige; two sisters: Elenore Dwyer of Johnstown and Beverly Paul of Gloversville; three brothers-in-law: Richard Beaulieu of North Port, FL and Joseph Beaulieu of Corpus Christi, TX and Paul Dwyer; two sisters-in-law, Claudette Brundige and "Donnie" Brundige; a cousin, Albert Botch of Gloversville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Fred was predeceased by two brothers: Norman D. Brundige and John D. Brundige and two sisters: Jacqueline Burdick and Georgia Ann Dwyer. Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, June 14 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Very Reverend Donald Czelusniak presiding. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred's memory to Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 3528 Schenectady, NY 12303.
