Obituary of Gerald D. Sobkowich

Mr. Gerald D. "Jerry" Sobkowich Jr., 40, of Getman Rd., Fonda, NY passed away early Tuesday morning June 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with his loving family at his side. Born in Bridgeport, CT. on February 17, 1970 a son of Gerald and Paula Sobkowich Sr. He was a lifelong area resident and attended St. Stanislaus School and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. Jerry was a career Truck Driver first working for Jackson Demolition in Schenectady and later Vanauken Trucking in Rexford, NY. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and his favorite driver Jeff Gordon. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam. He married Kimberly M. Warenda Sobkowicz on July 11, 1992. In addition to his loving wife survivor's include two sons, Sean Sobkowich of Fonda N.Y and Robert Faulds of Gloversville, NY. His parents, Gerald D. and Paula Sobkowich Sr. of the state of Florida. Three sisters, Paulette Cramer of Amsterdam, NY, his twin sister, Tanya Hohler of Mayfield, NY and Chrissy Betor of the state of Florida. Nieces and nephews, Alicia and Marty Cramer, Ashley and Haley Hohler, Corey and Cameron Betor. Father-in-law Ron Warenda of Amsterdam, NY. Aunts, uncles, cousins and friends survive. Jerry also leaves behind his beloved dog Sierra and cats, Boo Boo, Egor and Princess. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 4, 2010 at 9:30A.M. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Cornell St., Amsterdam with Father David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Cremation will take place at Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday June 3, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help the family defer expenses c/o the funeral home.
