Obituary of Guido L. Borgolini

Mr. Guido L. Borgolini, 79 of Gloversville, passed away peacefully at home unexpectedly, on May 27, 2010. Born July 8, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gioconda Moni Borgolini. Mr. Borgolini moved to Italy with his family as a child and received his early education there. An Army veteran from 1949 - 1952, Mr. Borgolini moved to Gloversville where he received his GED and began working at MCA. He retired in 1990 as a plant superintendant after 37 years. An accomplished musician, Guido was well known and respected for his many years playing in area and regional bands. The "Big Little Band" was primarily Big Band era music, while the "Continental" Band was mostly German music. His love of music also brought him to the Concordia Club where he was a life member and past-president. Among his hobbies were scenery painting, traveling and a passion for golf. He played at many area courses with a regular group. He was a long time member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge # 1185, and the Commander's Club of the DAV. His greatest love was his family. He was devoted to spending holidays and many special gatherings with them. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lotte Linz Borgolini of Gloversville whom he married May 16, 1953. He is also survived by his children: John Borgolini of Johnstown, Ronald G. Caren Borgolini of Ballston Spa and Lorraine L. Borgolini of Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Borgolini is additionally survived by grandchildren; John Borgolini, Briana Borgolini, R.J. Borgolini and Erin Borgolini. His surviving sisters are; Jeanette Iacovone of Gloversville and Iris Hickman of Terra Haute, Indiana. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Guido was pre-deceased by a brother Hiram Borgolini and sisters Doris Davison and Dina Wangenstein. There will be no calling hours or services. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
