Obituary of Erma Schulz

Erma Schulz, 84, of Washington Street in Fultonville died peacefully Monday, May 24, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Broadalbin, NY February 4, 1926 a daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Phillips Pearo. Erma was raised on her family's farm in Minaville and was a 1942 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She married Richard L. Schulz of the Town of Charleston at St. Luke's Church in Amsterdam on November 5, 1949. Together the couple settled in Fultonville where Erma worked at Premier Glove Manufacturing for many years. Erma loved to travel to Florida with her husband where they have lived seasonally for the last 30 years. She was a doll and NASCAR collector who enjoyed crochet and knitting. Her greatest times, however, were spent around her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her loving family includes her husband of nearly 61 years, Richard Schulz of Fultonville, her children Marvin Schulz and wife Lynne of Saratoga Springs, Darlene McCaslin and husband Zack of Gloversville, Judy Russo and Dean Walsh of Tribes Hill, Robert Schulz and wife Sue of Fultonville and William Schulz of Fultonville, her brothers Durwood Pearo of Amsterdam and Melvin Pearo of the Town of Florida, her sister Marilyn Austin of Hagaman, her grandchildren Scott, John, Michele, Melissa, Christopher, Robert, Jr., Matthew, Daniel, Kelsey, Amanda and Vanessa and great-grandchildren, Karley and Justin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Broadway in Fonda with Fr. Patrick Gallagher, OFM, Conv., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072.
