Obituary of Victor E. Phetteplace

Victor E. Phetteplace, 94, formerly of Fultonville passed away peacefully Friday, May 21, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born April 22, 1916 in McDonough, NY the son of Dennis and Cora Howard Phetteplace. He was a graduate of Norwich High School in 1943. Victor worked in the jewelry business with watches and clocks, he ran Vic's Watch Shop in Canajoharie for almost ten years, he then went to work for Life Savers in Canajoharie for eighteen years. He later moved to Oregon and worked as a watch maker for Buckmaster & Scott and lived there until moving back to the area in 1984 after his retirement. In his days of watch repair he was known in town by the name "Main Spring". Victor was of the Protestant faith, a member of Village Bible Church. He was married to the former Dorothy Brumley Phetteplace on March 18, 1975. Victor is predeceased by his son Neil Phetteplace and daughter Eileen Diefendorf. His loving family includes his wife Dorothy, daughters, Jean Ward and Mary Krug both of canajoharie, son, Randy Phetteplace of Utica, NY; two step sons, Robert and Edgar Freeman both of Fultonville, NY; NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In accordance to Victor's wishes he was cremated, cremation will took place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady. A service of remembrance for Victor will take place July 10, 2010 at the Saving Grace Baptist Church, 2615 St. Hwy. 30A Fonda, NY 12068. The service will begin at 2 PM. The family asks that friends and family would join them in sharing memories of Victor during the service, so please come with your fondest memories in mind.
