Obituary of Bridget B. Palkovic

Mrs. Bridget B. Palkovic, 84, of Rochester St., Ft. Johnson, NY, passed away early Monday morning May 17, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 7, 1926 a daughter of the late John and Mikalina Babrowicz. She attended the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Bridget was a resident of Amsterdam and lived for over 21 years in Schenectady NY before returning back home. Mrs. Palkovic worked at the former Chalmer's Knitting Mill in Amsterdam and later for the Park Hill Adult Home as a Nurse's Aide before her retirement. Bridget was well known for making "Angel" baby blankets for AIDS babies and on her own made over 1, 000. She was a communicant of the former St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married Joseph J. Palkovic. He passed away in January of 1977. Survivor's include her daughter Patricia A. Jordan and her husband Harry of Ft. Johnson , NY. One brother, Joseph Babrow of Amsterdam and a sister, Veronica Epting of Albany, NY. Two grandchildren, Tricia Jordan and Carrie Araya Dr. Michael Araya. Three great-grandchildren, Jordan Ashley, Mitchell Andrew and Austin Michael Araya. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Bridget was predeceased by a brother John Babravich and two sisters, Mary Babrowicz and Genevieve Babrowicz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 10:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Deacon Michael Ryba presiding. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday May 19, 2010 one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 9:00A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, 422 Guy park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
