Obituary of Evelyn M. Chambers

Evelyn M. Chambers, 86, of Sandy Drive, formerly of Fultonville died peacefully Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam with her daughter by her side. She was born in Ardsley, NY June 12, 1923 daughter of the late Howard and Hilda Ward Eaton. Evelyn grew up in the Ardsley area and was a 1941 graduate of Ardsley High School. Following her marriage to Roy Chambers of Hastings on Hudson, she resided in that area where she raised her family and enjoyed many her years as a loving homemaker, later relocating to Fultonville, NY. Evelyn was a member of the Glen Mohawk Seniors and a former communicant of Charleston Christian Church at Charleston Four Corners. She was an avid reader, a talented cook and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her time with family and enjoyed watching old westerns and Jeopardy. Her loving family includes her sons Roy Chambers and wife Barbara of Seattle, WA and Douglas Chambers and wife Betty of St. Johnsville, her daughters Adele Bessette and husband Gerald of Hastings on Hudson, Cynthia Cusack of Fultonville, Robin Pettey of Charleston, and Connie Bradshaw of Cary, NC, her grandchildren Howard and Jerry Bessette, Edward and Danny Cusack, Jaclyn Hernigle, Tracy, Jennifer, Sheryl and Kristin Piko, Zachary and Tyler Bradshaw, Shauna and Kasey Carter, and Abigail, Douglas and Matthew Chambers. Eleven great-grandchildren and three nieces also survive. Services will be at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY 12072 with Rev. Brett Popp, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Charleston Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to services on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00PM at the funeral home. Contributions in Evelyn?s memory may be made to the V.F.W. Post#942, Route 30A, Fonda, NY 12068.
