Obituary of Virginia K. MacArthur

Mrs. Virginia K. MacArthur, 90, formerly of Pattersonville, NY died peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018.  Born in Cementon, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the Anthony and Mary Hilt Keshel.

Virginia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from West Chester University, and la Master of the Arts degree from Columbia University.  Her teaching career took her from Egypt, Pennsylvania to Levittown, Pennsylvania and to Princeton, New Jersey.

On November 11, 1967 she was united in marriage to Robert W. MacArthur.  Together for 47 years they enjoyed traveling the world together and enjoyed their home in the hills of Schenectady County raising Haflinger horses.  He passed away on June 15, 2014.  She was also predeceased by a stepson, Robert MacArthur; and her siblings Col. Donald J. Keshel and Antoinette Longenecker.

She was a member of the Woestina Reformed Church and directed the Classic Choir for 30 years.

Survivors include her stepson, Dana (Jane) MacArthur; granddaughter, Aimee’; grandson Peter (Jennifer) MacArthur; granddaughters Marion (Roger) Rathbun and Joanie (Greg) Miller; seven great grandchildren Margaret, Anne, William, Rowan, Audrey, Delia, Cleo; and one sister, Marion Lightcap.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 4 o’clock at the Woestina Reformed Church, 1397 Main Street, Rotterdam Junction, NY with the Rev. Kent McHeard officiating.  Private burial will take place in the Woestina Cemetery.  A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
