Obituary of Sharon Ann Madej

Sharon Ann Madej, 76, of Amsterdam, NY passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019.

Born on October 9th, 1942 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Kathleen (Whelly) Ledermiller. Sharon is a graduate of Perth Central School. She spent many years as a switch board operator for the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.

Sharon, who also went by the name of Dee to her loved ones, was an avid reader who enjoyed completing crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She loved to play online games with her friends when she wasn’t shopping online or browsing catalogs. Sharon was very social; she loved to dance and reminisce. It was not unusual for Sharon to book a cruise on a whim. She loved ​to travel, especially to NYC or Puerto Rico.

Sharon is survived by her son Michael (Cathy) Rossi; her sister Kathleen Hewitt, her grandchildren, Stephen Rossi and Morgan Rossi; and her niece Tara (Praveen) Tamvada, and their children, Mason Talarico, Maya Tamvada, and Zoe Tamvada. Many dear and close friends also survive. Sharon is predeceased by her parents Ernest and Kathleen; her daughter, Chantel Boice; and her grandson Ethan Boice.

In accordance with Sharon’s wishes there will be no formal services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
