Obituary of George C. Flansburg

     George C. Flansburg, 96, formerly of Northville, NY, passed away Friday October 26, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Amsterdam, following a brief illness.

     Born in The Town of Day, NY on March 7, 1922 a son of the late Ralph and Nellie Bovee Flansburg. 

He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. George served in the US Army during World War II.   

    George was employed as Head of Maintenance for the former Johnstown Hospital in Johnstown, NY  for many years. 

     He married Delia Rust Flansburg.    She passed away in 1991.

       Survivors include his children, Cheryl (Lawrence) Watkins of Amsterdam, Joanne Lewis of Gloversville, NY,  Donna (Don) Peterson of Amsterdam,  David Flansburg of Florida and Donald (Monica) Flansburg of Ephratah, NY.  His companion,  Ingrid Valik.  Son-in-law, Brian Shibley.   Many grandchildren,  great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.    

     Mr. Flansburg was predeceased by children, Janet and Carol Flansburg, Geroge Flansburg Jr. and Susan Shibley.  George was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Katy M. Peterson on June 27, 2014 and a brother, Harry Flansburg.

     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY  with Military Honors.    Interment will follow in the Town of Day Center Cemetery.
