Obituary of Alice Loux

Alice Loux, 90, passed away on December 15, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice.  She was born on September 25, 1928 in the family home in the Town of Bleecker to Julius and Florence Tiedeman Bleyl.  She was a life-long Bleecker resident and salutatorian of the 1946 class at Gloversville High School.

Alice was bookkeeper for Bleyl and Sons Lumber Yard for many years and bookkeeper for the Town of Bleecker for over 20 years.  She was also employed part-time for Dr. Edward Pasquarella for 20 years.

Alice was a charter member of the Bleecker Community Church and taught Sunday School and led a youth choir when her children were young; she was a trustee and secretary of the Church for the past several years.  She was a member of the Nick Stoner Senior Citizens Club, serving as secretary and treasurer for several years.  She was a member of the Wheelerville UFS PTA and served one year as secretary and president in 1963-4.  Alice loved reading and keeping up with current events.  She also enjoyed her small blueberry farm and especially meeting the blueberry pickers.

Alice was married for 60 years to Raymond Loux until his passing in 2008.  She will be missed by her son David Loux (Leda) of Delmar and daughters Nancy Soanes (Royce) of Halfmoon and Sally Miller (Frank) of Jamison, PA; two grandchildren, Peter Loux (Lisa) of Columbus, MS and Andrew Loux (Ashley) of Delmar, and 4 great-grandchildren (Charles, Leda, Peter Jr and Anthony).  She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Brooks, who she was very close to and loved dearly, sisters-in-law Ruth Bleyl and Lorraine Bleyl, one first cousin, Linda Monroe, a special friend and cousin, Carlene Lankton, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Bleyl, Stephen Bleyl and Julius Bleyl Jr.

Honoring Alice's wishes, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral service.  A graveside service and interment will take place in the spring at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Bleecker.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.

The Loux family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for their kind, compassionate care of Alice.
